The Florentine is a weekly magazine written entirely in English, full of interesting articles about Florence and Italy. It features articles on current events, culture, language, fashion, and more. It also contains a full listing of the week's events in Florence--exhibitions, concerts, lectures, performances, nightlife, cinema (including movies in English), festivals, markets, etc.
The Florentine is available for free in tourist information offices, many bookstores, restaurants, museum shops and other locations throughout the city. I always pick up a copy when I'm in town.
But, it's also available online. At the moment, you can go to The Florentine home page and click on Issues to download a PDF copy--including all the color photos and ads-- of the current (or several back issues) to browse at your leisure. Soon, you will have to register to do so, but registration will be free.
One of my favorite features is Linda Falcone's Italian Voices--amusing essays on Italian language and the way Italians really speak and think. Even if I don't have time to read the whole paper, I always check out her columns. Falcone has a new paperback of her essays available at Am
azon titled Italian Voices. It's a great little guide to the Italian mindset and highly entertaining.
Check out The Florentine and feed your dreams of Florence...
